Tinubu Describes Akwa Ibom Visit as a Homecoming
Reflecting on his personal connection to Akwa Ibom State, President Tinubu described the visit as a homecoming, recalling his years working in the state before entering public office.
“I worked here as a Mobil Auditor. We built Ibeno, developed Eket and I never knew I would be the President of Nigeria one day. We did what we needed to do,” he said.
The President’s remarks highlighted his longstanding familiarity with Akwa Ibom and its development.
President Praises Governor Eno’s Development Record
President Tinubu also commended Governor Umo Eno for his leadership and the infrastructure projects undertaken by his administration.
He particularly acknowledged the Governor’s commitment to improving aviation infrastructure, noting that his administration’s performance influenced the Federal Government’s response to the state’s request for support.
“Governor Eno is a great man of conscience, commitment and visionary. When your request for the upgrade of the airport got to my desk, I didn’t hesitate because of your track record of performance,” President Tinubu stated.
The President subsequently performed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to inaugurate the new International Terminal Building at Victor Attah International Airport.
The facility is among the major infrastructure projects highlighted during the President’s working visit to Akwa Ibom State.
