Senate President Praises Unity, Peace, and Massive Participation Across Akwa Ibom State, congratulates Governor Umo Eno
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has commended members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State for the peaceful, orderly, and successful conduct of the party’s primaries across the State.
Senator Akpabio gave the commendation at the Akwa Ibom State APC Secretariat and State Collation Centre in Uyo, where results from the 329 wards and 31 Local Government Areas were collated and officially announced.
The Senate President described the massive turnout of party faithful during the exercise as a strong reflection of the prevailing atmosphere of peace, unity, and political maturity in Akwa Ibom State.
According to him, the peaceful conduct of the primaries and the enthusiasm displayed by party members demonstrated growing confidence in the leadership of Governor Umo Eno and the stability currently being experienced across the State.
Speaking after participating in the various primaries held across the State, Senator Akpabio noted that the exercise marked one of the most peaceful political outings in recent history.
“For the first time, we have witnessed primaries without a single negative incident. Instead, we saw massive turnout, excitement, singing, and celebration as party members freely exercised their democratic rights,” Akpabio stated.
He further noted that the conduct of the exercise highlighted the democratic spirit, discipline, and unity within the APC family in Akwa Ibom State.
The Senate President also commended party members, electoral officials, security agencies, and stakeholders for ensuring a transparent and peaceful process throughout the primaries.
Senator Akpabio emphasized that the peaceful political environment currently being witnessed in the State remains critical to sustainable development, grassroots participation, and democratic growth.
He added that the unity demonstrated during the primaries further strengthened the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the APC Governorship Primaries Committee, Ambassador Alex Nwofe, officially announced Governor Umo Eno as the overwhelmingly affirmed Governorship Candidate of the APC for the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.
Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, received the Certificate of Return on behalf of Governor Umo Eno.
Senator Akpabio congratulated Governor Eno on the affirmation and urged party members to remain united, peaceful, and committed to the continued progress and development of Akwa Ibom State.
He reiterated that the collective focus of leaders and stakeholders must remain on responsible leadership, unity of purpose, and delivering greater dividends of democracy to the people.
