
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has congratulated the people of Akwa Ibom State as the state marks its 38th anniversary, describing the milestone as a moment of reflection, celebration, and renewed commitment to progress.
Akpabio, who served as the Governor of Akwa Ibom from 2007 to 2015, noted that the state has recorded tremendous growth over the years in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, industrialization, and human capital development. He commended the resilience, creativity, and resourcefulness of the people of Akwa Ibom, stating that their unity has been the driving force behind the state’s steady progress.
“Akwa Ibom at 38 is a testament to how far we have come as a people. From humble beginnings, our state has grown into one of Nigeria’s shining examples of development and innovation. I celebrate the government and good people of Akwa Ibom for their dedication to peace, progress, and prosperity,” Akpabio said.
He urged all Akwa Ibomites, both at home and in the diaspora, to remain united and continue to support policies and initiatives that promote sustainable development. According to him, the strength of Akwa Ibom lies in its diversity and collective determination to build a future that secures opportunities for the next generation.
The Senate President also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the state’s aspirations at the national level, pledging to continue championing initiatives that will attract investments, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for the people of Akwa Ibom.
As Akwa Ibom turns 38, Akpabio called on citizens to rededicate themselves to the ideals of peace, unity, and progress, stressing that the journey ahead requires collective effort.
“Together, we can build an Akwa Ibom that stands tall in Nigeria and Africa—a state where peace is not an illusion, and development is a reality for every citizen,” he added.
