President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called for unity, political inclusion and mutual respect among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made the call at a special prayer service held on Sunday, 1 November 2026, at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, where party leaders, candidates and supporters gathered to dedicate their forthcoming election campaigns to God.
The service, held under the theme “We Are Well Able,” was attended by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, alongside party leaders and other stakeholders.
A Call for Unity and Inclusion
Addressing the gathering, the Senate President emphasised that political unity must be built on mutual respect, fairness and a shared commitment to the development of Akwa Ibom State.
He urged party members to put aside divisions and embrace an inclusive political environment in which every member has an opportunity to contribute.
Akpabio stressed that distinctions between longstanding members and recent entrants should not become sources of division within the party.
Using the analogy of candles, he observed that one person’s progress should not require diminishing another person’s opportunities.
He further encouraged political stakeholders to recognise their shared responsibilities, notwithstanding their different political backgrounds and experiences.
Faith, Leadership and Responsibility
Reflecting on the significance of the prayer service, Akpabio highlighted the importance of faith, peaceful political engagement and responsible leadership.
He maintained that political ambition should not overshadow the welfare of citizens or the need to preserve harmony within communities.
The Senate President also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects in Akwa Ibom State.
Building a Shared Future
Akpabio called on political leaders and supporters to sustain cooperation and avoid divisions capable of undermining peace and development.
He emphasised that Akwa Ibom State’s progress remains closely connected to Nigeria’s wider development and that political engagement should be conducted with respect for human dignity.
The prayer service formed part of the Akwa Ibom APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, bringing together party stakeholders around the themes of faith, unity and collective responsibility.
