Akpabio Mourns Victims of Nigerian Air Force Aircraft Crash

The godswill oct 7th

The tragic loss of lives in the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crash near Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State is a profoundly painful moment for our nation.

On behalf of the Senate and the entire National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I extend my deepest condolences to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; the Chief of Defence Staff; the Chief of the Air Staff; the Service Chiefs; officers and men of our Armed Forces; and, most importantly, the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.

The loss of any Nigerian life is painful. It is even more sobering when those lost include men and women serving our country and carrying out their responsibilities in the service of the nation.

At this difficult moment, our thoughts must be especially with the families who are now confronted with the sudden loss of their loved ones. No words can fully take away the pain of such a loss, but they should know that they do not mourn alone. The thoughts and prayers of a grieving nation are with them.

We also stand in solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria. The men and women of our Armed Forces make enormous sacrifices every day in the defence and service of our country, often accepting risks that many of us will never have to face.

A nation may mourn its fallen heroes, but it must never forget the courage with which they gave their lives in service to the Republic.

Their service, courage and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We must continue to honour those who dedicate themselves to the defence of our nation and the protection of our people.

This tragedy also reminds us of the risks borne by our military personnel in the course of their duties and the responsibility we share as a nation to stand with them and their families, particularly in moments of loss.

As Nigeria mourns, I pray that we find strength in our shared humanity and in our resolve to support those most affected by this tragedy.

May Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest, comfort their families and loved ones, strengthen the Nigerian Air Force and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria, and grant our nation the fortitude to bear this painful loss.
