Thank You, My Governor, for Taking Us to the Centre
Today marked a historic moment in the political journey of our dear state, Akwa Ibom. I had the honour of joining President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR — ably represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON — to formally welcome our Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) family.
The symbolic event, held at the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, was graced by the National Chairman of our great party, Dr. Umar Ganduje; members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum; distinguished lawmakers from the National Assembly; and several APC leaders and chieftains from across the country.
I used the occasion to express deep appreciation to our Governor for his bold and strategic decision to align Akwa Ibom State with the political centre. His action reflects a rare sense of foresight and commitment to the broader interest of our people.
I assured him — and indeed, all Akwa Ibomites — that this decision will not be in vain. The APC-led Federal Government under President Tinubu is a forthright administration that keeps its promises. Our state stands to benefit immensely from this alignment, through greater collaboration, developmental access, and inclusive governance.
This is not just a political move — it is a legacy step. One that places Akwa Ibom in direct partnership with the heartbeat of national progress.
Once again, thank you, my Governor, for taking us to the centre.
— Senator Godswill Akpabio
President of the Senate
Federal Republic of Nigeria
