On a bright day in the heart of our nation’s capital, I had the honour of representing His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the official commissioning of a critical segment of Abuja’s growing infrastructure network — the newly constructed left-hand service carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Stage II, stretching from Ring Road 1 Junction to Wasa Junction.
This event was more than a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. It was a reaffirmation of a national promise — a tangible, asphalt-paved proof that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is not just alive, but actively reshaping our national landscape, one project at a time.
More Than a Road — A Vision Realized
When we speak of roads, we speak not only of concrete and tar but of connectivity, accessibility, and economic empowerment. The OSEX Stage II project may be a single carriageway in geographic terms, but in symbolic and economic terms, it is a gateway — a new corridor that links communities, eases urban congestion, stimulates commerce, and strengthens the daily lives of thousands of Nigerians.
Through me, President Tinubu conveyed his heartfelt assurance that this project is part of a much larger and deeply intentional national infrastructure drive. From superhighways to bridges, from railways to seaports, from modernized airports to smart urban transit systems, this administration is working tirelessly to lay the physical and economic foundations of a New Nigeria.
Our Renewed Hope Agenda is not a slogan. It is a vision backed by concrete action, strategic investments, and an unshakable belief in the potential of the Nigerian people.
The Infrastructure Backbone of National Development
The President understands — as do I — that no nation can thrive on dreams alone. Infrastructure is the lifeblood of national progress. It creates jobs, enables trade, powers industries, and opens doors of opportunity from rural villages to bustling city centers.
When we build roads, we build bridges between people and possibility. When we lay rail lines, we move goods faster, cheaper, and more securely. When we invest in ports and airports, we open Nigeria to the world and prepare our economy for global competition.
It is through such projects that President Tinubu’s administration is restoring trust in governance. Nigerians no longer want promises. They want results — and with every kilometer of road commissioned, every track of railway completed, every terminal upgraded — they are getting those results.
The Role of the National Assembly
As President of the Senate, I take pride in the strong partnership between the Legislature and the Executive. In our current dispensation, the collaboration among the three arms of government has become a model of harmony, purpose, and responsibility.
The National Assembly remains committed to supporting infrastructure development through timely budget approvals, rigorous oversight, and legislative interventions that encourage transparency, innovation, and private sector participation.
We understand that infrastructure is not only a government responsibility — it is a national priority. It is the common thread that weaves our ambitions into achievable outcomes.
Hope in Motion
The commissioning of the OSEX Stage II carriageway is a reminder that progress is possible — not in theory, but in reality. As we celebrate this milestone, let it renew our collective faith in Nigeria’s future.
Let us remember that this is only the beginning. President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda envisions a nation where every Nigerian — regardless of region, religion, or background — can access the tools, roads, and opportunities needed to succeed.
The road to a better Nigeria is being built, quite literally. And we are proud to be the drivers of that change.
